Papers and photographs, 1864?-1928.

Mixed materials documenting Iron Brigade soldier Charles W. Delaney, a Lowville, Wisconsin resident who served with Company G of the 2nd Regiment Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. Manuscript collection contains two handwritten accounts of the life and service of Delaney, as remembered by his descendants, and a photocopy of his obituary from 1928. The handwritten accounts speak of his enlistment at a young age; his fondness of Union generals McClellan, Meade, and Reynolds; his experience at Antietam; and being wounded at Gettysburg. Photographs consist of two carte de visites; one of Delaney standing by a chair in civilian clothing, and the second of the battle-damaged flag carried by the 2nd Wisconsin.
